Dancing Fever

Emily's best friend, Carson, recently had a birthday party.  Here are some highlights:

Clarcy gave him a roll of paper towels.

He had to unroll the entire roll to read messages....

...and more messages...

...and finally find three $5 bills at the very end.

His guests told him to roll them all back up and use them in the kitchen. Not sure if he did that or not.

His cake (15 ha ha)

After presents and cake and ice cream they turned on the Wii game, Just Dance.  You pick a song and then try to follow the dance moves of the animated dancers on the screen.  It was great for group participation.

You can see the screen dancer demonstrating the moves.

On some songs each animated dancer does different dance moves, so each live person is doing their own thing.

Or there are two dancers to follow.

I had to include this one because I thought Megan's ponytail flying was pretty cool.  Ha Ha

Robby and Carson had a dance-off.

The hat helped Robby dance better.  He LOVES his hats!

The kids wanted the moms to dance.  My knee was killing me for two days but the kids loved it.
(Me, Sara, Sandi)

We had so much fun!  I am so glad that my children have such amazing friends!

Prom 2012

Emily went to prom this weekend with a young man she recently met.  He picked her up at our house.  He made her wrist corsage himself.  He and the two other young men they went with made dinner for their dates.  (I understand it was a rather eclectic meal consisting of soup, salad, mini tacos, rolls, and peanutbutter bars for dessert.)

Ross also suggested pictures before dinner.  Emily volunteered my sister, the budding photographer.  She was happy to agree.  Below are some of her pictures and some taken at prom.  They were losing lighting, so I'll have to post the rest of Sharilyn's pictures later.

The entire group

Roscoe (Ross) and Emily

India and Dallin
(Ross's two best friends)

Miriam and Chase
(Chase, Dallin and Ross are apparently pals)

Oh, my!  The boys are showing some leg.

At the prom

Ties are pretty useful...

Ross and Emily are both involved in their high school drama productions.  In fact, they met at a regional drama festival.  Can you tell?

80's Dance

Last April, Megan's school had an 80's dance/activity.  She refused to wear leggings but wore the oversized t-shirt and the side ponytail.  She had a ton of fun with her friends.

Ringing in the New Year

Kendra, Clarcy, and Emily

Emily and her friends went to a regional youth dance on New Year's Eve. Don't they look beautiful?

She has forbidden me to post anything else about this night. Ha Ha

I guess she probably doesn't want me to post anything about her singing a solo at the stake Youth Olympics in January or trying out for the school musical, either. So I'll just say she took 3rd in female vocals and has a part in the chorus. Play rehearsals start tomorrow.

Shop 'Til You Drop

Kendra, Clarcy and Emily, ready to start their shopping expedition

Emily is now old enough to attend the church dances each weekend. Naturally, that meant a shopping trip to the local mall to find the perfect outfit for her first dance. (She is, afterall, female.) We invited her friends Kendra and Clarcy to spend the day with us.

We tried on clothes we liked and made fun of clothes we didn't like. We went into stores where we knew we weren't going to buy anything....just because we could. The girls tried on shirts, pants, jewelry, hats, scarves, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, jewelry, and more shoes.

We also had lunch at Johnny Rockets, which is a 50's style diner. The burgers were fabulous and the employees sang "Happy Birthday" to Emily..... backwards. It was pretty funny.

We finally left the mall when everyone's feet were too sore to keep walking. The girls were pretty silent on the trip home. I think I wore them out.

Before she went to bed Emily threw her arms around my neck and told me it was the best birthday..."so far." High praise indeed from a teenager!
