I asked Megan to try on the dress before I sewed on the sleeves. The shoulders were a bit big on her, creating a sort of cap sleeve look. She decided she liked it and didn't want me to sew on the actual sleeves I had cut out. She also insisted I cut off most of the length on the skirt so the dress hit her at about her knees.
She borrowed high-heeled black boots from Heather (they actually don't fit Heather anymore but she loves them and won't pass them on yet). Megan refused to put on black lipstick, but did paint her nails green and black. (Green is her favorite color.)
She really wanted a picture with one eye covered. Too funny.
So here is where the different personalities shine through. Heather insisted that her dress have long, flowing sleeves. In fact, she drew me a picture of the shape I needed to cut out to give the sleeves the look she wanted. She insisted the sleeves needed to be long enough to cover her hands completely. The dress had to be ankle-length and we stitched white and black trim along the neckline. She also insisted she had to have black lipstick or she wouldn't have the right look. She painted her nails blue and black. (Blue is her favorite color....and Megan actually copied Heather's nails.)
That black lipstick is hideous, but she liked it.
She did the hooded look later on, too.
And then there is Abby. Megan's friend was also dressed as a witch. I realized today that I never got a full-body shot of Abby, because she ran off as soon as we started taking pictures. But she had a huge, feather-covered witch hat and flourescent green and black striped tights. Very cute, but also very different than each of my girls.
Abby's brother, Jacob, dressed as a wizard so I guess the youngers kids had a theme, too.
I am not sure if Megan and Jake have just had too much candy already or if they meant to look like this. LOL All in all, a very fun Halloween night.
