My friend Jennifer has three daughters who headed off to NAU this month. Keri and Kelly are sophomores and Heather is a freshman. Before they left town they sorted through their clothes and created a hand-me-down pile. When they were growing up, a family in our ward gave them hand-me-down clothing and they loved it. So they gave Jennifer strict instructions to share their clothing with my girls before she donated them anywhere.
Megan was home alone when we got the clothing. She was excited to get first dibs on everything!
Megan fell in love with this shirt and wore it to school today.
Everyone at school kept saying, "You have a brother?!" and "I didn't know you had a brother!" She said it was very annoying, but she doesn't care because she likes the shirt. LOL
When Emily and Heather got home they started sorting through the bags, too. Megan came running in and said, "Mom, Emily found a shirt that is PINK and SPARKLY.....and she LIKES it!" Emily has made it very clear that she doesn't do pink OR sparkly so we were all surprised that this shirt was such a hit with her. The capris were inherited, too. I thought the outfit looked really nice on her.
Heather desperately needed a jacket but we couldn't find any in July when she did school clothes shopping. She was VERY excited about this jacket because a) it fit, and b) it is her school colors. Two for one! Woohoo!
The shirt she is wearing also came from the bags Jennifer gave us. Heather LOVES anything patriotic so she was excited about several shirts we found.
The biggest score was the jewelry Emily found in the bottom of one bag. The girls dropped all clothes to check out the jewelry. Typical girls!
Emily really liked the Young Women's Values bracelet she found.
Heather liked the bangles.
Heather also liked the spiral bangle she found.
So much for my clean living room!
Megan showing off her jewelry selections and a new shirt, too.
Emily found some sweats and a cozy sweatshirt. She loves to sleep in stuff like this.
Heather looks all grown up in a new skirt and top.
Megan found another fun t-shirt.
LOL She must be related to Grandma Libby!
Another of Heather's new treasures.
We found a number of shirts Heather and Megan liked that don't fit yet. We have put them in a box for later. They can't wait to grow into their new things.
The clothing that either didn't fit or the girls didn't want are being donated to another family we know who has several girls the same ages. EVERYONE loves hand-me-downs! In fact, we gave some of Heather and Megan's clothes away recently and the little girls were thrilled to receive everything.
A great big thank you to Keri, Kelly and Heather. Good luck at school!
