Fun Run

In June, Emily will be participating in a Pioneer Trek with the other youth in our stake. The kids have to be 14, so Heather doesn't get to go this time. (She thinks that is totally unfair, too.)

In order to qualify to participate in the Trek, the kids and adults must show that they can physically handle the rigors of the trip. Each of them have to complete a 4-mile distance in one hour or less. They certified their times this morning in an event ironically labeled as a "Fun Run." Since some of the kids said they wanted to puke after they finished, I don't think they really had that much fun.

My left knee bothers me a great deal when I walk so I knew better than to try to run with Emily. However, I did walk about half a mile. I did okay until the park path dipped into a tunnel to go under the roadway above. The downward motion about killed me so I turned back, completing a full mile roundtrip. The cartoon above is supposed to be me. Once again I forgot the camera so there are no photos of any of the runners.

Emily finished four miles in 56 minutes! I am so impressed. Good job!
